I have had all the tell-tale signs of pregnancy symptoms..dizziness..nauseau..fatigue..twinging of the overies..sore breast( like work out sore) and i'm not sure i got my period last month..i slept with my man Jan 19th..and on jan 24th i got some bleeding..but it didn't seem like my period..it was lighter and shorter then usual..lasted only 2 days.

I am supposed to start me period on feb 24th..but i got a pregnancy (urine test) at a clinic yesterday and it came back negative..but there was some blood in my urine and my white blood cells were high..they think it could be kidney infection..and this is why i was dizzy and nauseous..but that doesn't explain the sore breasts..If I miss my period this month..or it's not regular/late ..I plan on getting a blood test..because I heard you can get false negatives..my question is..do you think a kidney infection or a UTI could be hiding my pregnancy..and this is why it's coming back negative? Has anybody has negative results from urine test?

A UTI would not interfere with the results of a pregnancy test. However, at this point it is way too early for a test to give a definitive answer. The best time to test is at least two weeks after a regularly missed period, and a blood test done by your doctor is the most accurate way of testing. So please see your doctor for for a blood test.

A uti shouldn't affect a pregnancy test. There are lots of over the counter medications for utis, but I would strongly suggest seeing your doctor first. If this is your first uti, doctors like to diagnose them. Then, if you get another one, you can treat it yourself. Good luck with the uti & baby dust!

I disagree with the other poster (so far) on this question. False results ARE possible because of a heavy bacterial and/or leukocyte count (white cells) in a urine pregnancy test, or more correctly in some urine pregnancy tests. However, what you'll see is a false positive.

They are really, really rare though.

Focusing more on your specific question, NO - a UTI won't cause a false negative result.
