I have also lost some weight over the past couple of months, and my last two periods were very light- ALSO, I stopped using birth control (Ortho Evra patch). Is the combination of iron deficiency anemia, weight loss, and stopping birth control enough to not have a period? (I should be getting it right now- but I'm not).

Yes it can, the reason is your body can't afford to lose the blood because your blood levels are already low. My girlfriend is anemia as well and she goes almost three month without her period.

The recommended daily intake for pregnant women is about 30mg. Most prenatal vitamins have between 27 and 30mg. Iron is more important in later pregnancy than it is in early pregnancy. (In fact, taking in a lot of iron in the early weeks can worsen first trimester ailments such as constipation and morning sickness.) However, pregnant women need sufficient iron in late pregnancy, as the baby draws on mom's red blood cell stores to make his or her own. Pregnancy-related anemia is common, and is often easily treated with a supplement or simply by taking in more iron-rich foods. The only way to tell if your daughter is indeed iron deficient is through a blood test. Being tired is a symptom, but not a diagnosis. Iron levels can be checked at her OB's office, so if there's a concern she can ask to have it done there. Best of luck, and congrats on your future grandbaby.

Yes it is possible. Rapid weight loss and anemia are two causes of late or missed periods. Sometimes stopping birth control will mess up your cycle as well. You may want to check with you doctor.

Good luck!

...well...when i was in high school i became anemic partially because i bled so much during my periods...

i think that the things that have changed like the weight loss and the stopping of your birth control patch is what is making your periods a bit lighter than you're used to and causing the delay(or stopping)of this month's cycle!!!

if you think you're anemic just start taking iron supplements!!! that should help with that

Weight loss might not but the other two yes. Birth control pills stop your period for the time you are taking them. Your doctor should have told you that.(i hope you take birth control pills because your doctor told you so). And please tell me you are not a smoker because all these with smoking can end up very very badly.

I tried out everything to lose weight, and nothing worked until I tried out acai berry. I know they say that pills won't work, but they definitely worked for me, and they've been shown on the Rachael Ray Show too. There's a free trial going on right now at http://vilert.mansdiet.info , try it, what have you got to lose?
