God bless your son for his service to our Country!
Please don't let yourself get down about your son being away. If you email him, write him a letter or talk to him on the phone, he will hear that in your voice and then he'll be worrying about you. Busy yourself with friends, read some books you've been wanting to read, grow a little vegetable or flower garden, have fun sending your son and his mates care packages. Do themed packages for the seasons or holidays, have friends and relatives write individual notes and drop them in the package, send him actual photos he can put up in his room, maybe the town newspaper.
Here are a couple of neat sites to check out:

Best wishes and God Bless!

If you have a Navy base nearby this would be the best place to call. Or call the nearest military installation (branch does NOT matter) and get in contact with an Ombudsman.
Ombudsmen are there to help family members (not just wives, girlfriends & fiances) through the difficult times of training and deployment.

Be sure to thank your son for serving! My brother is also in the Navy and we miss him terribly but we're so proud of him too. My mom joined a local Armed Forces Mothers when my brother joined. They're very supportive for her so maybe there is a group like that you could join. Good luck!
