Plan B, Pregnancy Test, and Thyroid Problem?

I took Plan B approx 15 hours after I had unprotected sex- however at the time of taking it I didn't realize that my period might already be late. 2 months ago I started taking Thyroid medication and it affected my period (changed my cycle). I think (but I'm not sure) that I should have gotten my period again this week- but haven't. Last week I had severe period symptoms (cramps, moody, etc) but no bleeding. Do you think it's possible that I could be pregnant from previous protected sex (prior to 2 days ago I had never had unprotected sex) or is it possible that my thyroid medication could still be affecting my period and causing the delay? Also how long after taking Plan B can I take a pregnancy test and have it give me accurate results?

Hypothyroidism, or low thyroid function, is a silent epidemic, according to many functional medicine doctors. How to cure hypothyroidism naturally https://tr.im/FjsqS

People can suffer for years with symptoms that our conventional medical system frequently doesn’t know how to treat because complaints seem scattered or vague and often there is no pill for the ill(s).

What’s worse, in most cases, hypothyroidism isn’t rooted in a thyroid problem in the first place. It’s rooted in an immune system gone awry, but most doctors don’t test for the antibodies that show the presence of autoimmunity.

well, there is the .001% chance that your urine tests aren't working. if you are really concerned about pregnancy, go to the doctors and have a blood pregnancy test done. but this has happened to me before and a friend of mine. hers was completely for no reason, whereas mine was because i broke my ankle. you'd think that something like that wouldn't really affect you, but you'd be surprised what makes your body stress out. if you are staying up later than usual or if exams are coming up or you have recently moved, these can all affect your period. It could even be that you have made a new female friend recently and your body is trying to sync up with hers. This is a really weird phenomenon but it does happen. but, usually those urine tests ARE accurate. it could be something else that you are unaware of that is cause your body stress. you should still go to the doctors and see what they can do. they can also give you some pills after you haven't had your period for THREE months, to restart it. what started my period coming again, though, was taking Plan B. perhaps starting up some birth control will help bring back your period and make it regular again. but see your doctor before you do anything.

So by thyroid medication I assume you mean Synthroid, which is not known to have any effects on the reproductive system. Your period is probably just delayed because of all the sex confusion, it can happen. But all Plan B is is a double dose of birth control pill, so you can take it at anytime. The only for sure way to know you're pregnant is to see a doctor.

I knew someone who was hyperthyroid and his doctor put him on steroids to gain weight. I personally was hyperthyroid and had radioactive iodine treatment and I started to feel better about 2 or 3 months after. I noticed I started gaining weight about 5 lbs every year. Now I am about 10 lbs over my recommended weight for my age and height but find it almost impossible to lose any weight.

Just make sure you get proper treatment as a thyroid problem is more delicate than what people think. Also a good doctor who listens to you really helps. Good luck.

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that sits low on the front of the neck. Your thyroid lies below your Adam’s apple, along the front of the windpipe. The thyroid has two side lobes, connected by a bridge (isthmus) in the middle. When the thyroid is its normal size, you’re unlikely to be able to feel it.

All types of hyperthyroidism are due to overproduction of thyroid hormones, but the condition can develop in several ways.

Thyroid hormone production can be suppressed or halted completely in these ways: https://tr.im/hRqmV

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tinyurl.im/aH73Z Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour. Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland. Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.

I agree with james, protected sex saves you a lot of hassle. The problems I have with plan b is that it sounds good and people use it as a quick fix with out considering what will happen later. Google plan b/side effects. You will see that missed period, and irregular bleeding is the number one side effect. If your unsure take a pregnancy test. Good luck and make good choices:)

Geez, you're all screwed up. You know how to solve this? Use a condom next time. You're having too much unprotected sex. For God sakes, use a feakin' condom!!!
