I have been taking Yaz for 2 years, I love it. Back in June they switched me to Gianvi, the generic of Yaz. It caused me to have a lot more head aches (I get them anyway, but they doubled) constant nausea and it didn't control my PMDD like Yaz does. I took it for 2 months then switched back to Yaz and didn't mind paying $30.00 for the Yaz verses $10.00 for generic. I went to pharmacy today to refill for Yaz and it's $60.00!! What can I do to get the cost down? If I told my doctor the effects I was having on the generic, can she do something with the insurance company so I can get a marked down Brand name? Also, do pharmacies charge different prices for prescriptions? Yaz was $60.00 here, but would it be a different price somewhere else, or are all pharmacies the same in prices?

I know that sometimes the price of a brand name will drastically increase unless there is a medical reason for you to take it, in which case your doctor can call the pharmacy or insurance company (whoever is responsible for the mark up) and they will decrease the cost. Good luck.

You can probably find a mail order pharmacy that charges less than $60. Or a Canadian or Mexican pharmacy?

Ask your doctor for an alternative
