Question:
is there something wrong with me...?
2009-04-22 11:22:58 UTC
i am quite worried because i'm 14 (15 in a few months) and i still haven't started my periods and most of my friends have. i am worried that there is something wrong with my body or something. my mum reassures me that there is nothing wrong as she was a late developer. is there something wrong with me?!

Noo! Don't worry, my auntie got hers when she was 18!!

If your mum got it late, most likely you will x

Most girls get it around the time their mothers did, I know I did! :)

I have quite a few friends who are 16 and just got their period

so don't sweat

:) xx

There is nothing wrong with you at all. I was a late developer also and I felt the same way. Then one day it happened and everything came together. You will most likely start around the age that your mom started and if you ever have a girl in the future she will most likely start around the age that you started.

Not at all so stop worrying ! I started my periods when I was around 11 or so but my sister never started until she had left school I think she was around 16.

It all depends on mother nature and what she has in mind for you, I really envied my younger sister as she never had the problem of coping with periods whilst she was at school.

Listen to your mum she knows best.

Heaven's girl, there's not a thing wrong with you. My good ol' mother thought there was something wrong with -me- when I started in my 6th grade year (which would have made me somewhere around 12). My mother didn't have her's till she was nearly 18.

Don't worry about it. Everyone has their time, everyone's is different. Most girls think it's a new and exciting thing to have happen and everything occurs in good time. Cheers and hope that takes a bit of the worry off your shoulders.
2009-04-22 11:28:48 UTC
Everyone's different. I was a late developer. Just go with the flow. If you're really worried speak to a doctor or your school nurse, for reassurance, but I'm sure you're perfectly fine.

If your Mum was a late bloomer, then there is also a chance that genetics means you will be, too.

If your periods don't start by the time you are 16, then you should go to a doctor, but you can always see a doctor now if you are worried.

I am 17 now and I did start my periods quite early at the age of 12 but older sister who is now 20 didnt start her periods unitl she was 16 (I started before her basically) she had the same problem thinking there was something wrong with her ... Girls just develop at different times .. Enjoy it while you don't have them ... They crap once ya get them ... :)

Don't worry!

I didn't get mine till the end of grade 9 so I was 15 almost 16.

Plus if you're mum developed later, it's probably genetic.

No. There is nothing wrong with you.

I did not start til I was 16.

Do not worry. If at 17 it still has not started talk to your doctor. It could be a thyroid issue.

Wrongs could be diverse between cultures and can substitute over the years. some cultures have faith that particular nutrition must be arranged in a definite way and that's incorrect to do in any different case. that misguided my have progressed in the previous refrigeration grow to be available and so would now no longer be suitable. nonetheless, there will be some who carry on with the custom basically because of the fact it labored for earlier generations. for individuals who believed interior the will for racial purity some human beings it grow to be incorrect to have integrated colleges, shared eating places and lavatories. for individuals who believed in male superiority, it was incorrect for women human beings to anticipate equivalent pay. For populations that have been demise because of the fact of illness or dying in conflict and organic catastrophe, possible think of that homosexuality grow to be discouraged because of the fact it diverted sexual capability from duplicate. i've got faith that in case you examine the ten Commandments you will discover that each grow to be defined to deter movements that tended to have undesirable outcomes for those societies at that factor and probable nevertheless does. in lots of situations, basically as you have defined and to the progressed international of the twenty first century, those undesirable outcomes look somewhat logical. In Biblical situations, in basic terms some understood the coolest judgment or had the know-how. Moses grow to be very clever certainly and knew that the long suffering Tribes might in no way have believed he would desire to in my view have such know-how yet while he defined those because of the fact the words of God, nicely . . . . . .

what i have learnt is that some ppl have only started there periods in the early 20s! what i say is just enjoy the free time that you have now before it comes because once it does you will just be planning what you can and cannot do when it is that time of your month. do not worry just enjoy the free time that you have.

There's nothing wrong with you. It's actually a blessing. I got mine at 9.

I had a neighbor that didn't get hers until she was 18 and had a child when she was 19.

She was grossly thin, she looked anorexic.

Your mom is right. So who cares if all your friends got it. I, in the other hand was too early..i got it at 10. My sister got it at 16. Nothing wrong with it at all. It all depends on the person. Be lucky you haven't gotten it yet.

There might be something wrong but only a doctor can determine that. I wouldn't be to concernd untill your 16. Some girls are just late, way late.
2009-04-22 11:27:24 UTC
DONT WORRY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU...THERE ARE GIRLS THAT START TO EARLY AND THERE ARE SOME THAT START LATE. ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME... BUT IF IT WOULD MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER TELL YOUR MOM TO TAKE YOU TO THE DOCTOR..

Yes, listen to your mum. Also if you are quite skinny, around 100lbs or less, this may well delay things.
