I am a nineteen year old in a committed relationship. I am sexually active. We use condoms every time we have sex. I have been meaning to go on birth control for a few years now because I am terrible cramps and a heavy flow with every period, so now seems like a good time to start. However, I have some concerns about hormonal birth control...
1). I have a severe anxiety disorder that is related to being nauseous and/or throwing up. I know that nausea is a common side effect for most (if not all) birth controls. So this is a huge factor (probably the biggest) in picking a birth control.
2). Because of this anxiety disorder, I am more prone to depression or anxiety or mood swings.
3). I really don't want to gain weight. I am a bit heavy as it is, and the meds I am on for my anxiety disorder make it very difficult- if not impossible- to lose weight. So please don't just say "exercise a lot and eat right and you'll be fine" because I am, and I'm still not.
4). I tried Yaz back in 2009 for four months and they were terrible months... weight gain (water weight? I wasn't actually heavier, but I felt and looked heavier) and severe depression. Stopped the Yaz and it went away almost instantly.

I have been told to try the ring, but while searching online, I have heard a lot of horror stories about a loss of libido (that just seems counterproductive), hair loss, weight gain, mood swings, and nausea. Is there a birth control out there? I have talked to doctors and they are fed up with me and my concerns. Trial and error is all they can recommend, but I don't know if I can handle that with my anxiety disorder. Any and all advice would be fantastic!

This is definately something you need to talk to your doctor about. Every medication has side effects and they interact with different medications. Talk to your doctor and ask the doctor what they think would be the best for you taking in to consideration all your medical history. Good luck.

i might bypass with the IUD if I have been you. I had the Mirena IUD for 3 years, and function at the instant had it bumped off to aim for infant variety 2. The IUD replaced into painless to get in, I had it put in at my 6 week examine up after my daughter replaced into born. it particularly is secure to apply in case you're nursing your newborn, and it lasts for 5 years!!! Plus you do no longer could concern approximately pills or the rest. the only think of i did no longer be attentive to when I have been given the Mirena is it particularly is can take awhile on your menstral cycles to return to standard after having the IUD bumped off. I had mine bumped off in December 2008, and interior the previous couple months my cycles have finally decrease back to standard, different than that, I extraordinarily propose the IUD!
